The score and the fold are free. A rewrite in your own voice, from your own posts, is part of the trial.
Rewrite it in my voiceHow the grader works
- It reads your first line, the part people see before they decide to click see more.
- It checks five rules and adds up points: hook length, a reason to click, reading level, stock phrases and hashtags.
- It shows where the post folds, and how it splits into an X thread under 280 characters a part.
The rules it checks, and why
Hook length (30 points). A first line under about 140 characters stays whole on a phone. Past about 210 characters, even desktop readers lose the point behind see more.
A reason to click (15 points). A number, a question or the word you gives the reader something to finish.
Reading level (20 points). The grader estimates the Flesch Kincaid grade. Grade 8 or lower reads fast in a feed.
Stock phrases (20 points) and hashtags (15 points). Phrases like excited to announce get skimmed, and more than three hashtags looks like clutter.
Questions
Is the score an official LinkedIn metric?
No. LinkedIn does not publish a post score. These are writing rules you can check and fix yourself, weighted toward the first line because that is what decides the click.
Does my post leave my browser?
No. The grader runs in this page. Nothing is sent to a server unless you choose to sign up, and then only the draft you asked to keep.
Why does a question count as a good hook?
A question the reader already has an answer to makes them want to compare it with yours. It is one of three simple ways to give a reason to read on.
What does Rewrite it in my voice do?
It keeps your draft in this browser and opens the trial. Your first draft there starts from this post, rewritten from your own past posts and notes.
