- ✓ Opening lineFirst line is short and concrete.
- ✓ Worth forwardingContains a self-contained line worth forwarding (a copied link is the ranker's heaviest positive signal, 20; a DM share is 5).
- ✓ Invites a replyAt most one genuine question; replies (weight 5, 20 from a mutual follow) are invited, not farmed.
- ✗ Worth quotingNo clear point of view; quote posts spread positions, not summaries.
- ✓ Reason to follow5 concrete specifics signal real expertise.
- ✓ LengthSingle-post length in the readable sweet spot.
- ✓ Link placementNo outbound link in the body.
- ✓ Bait and AI slop riskNo bait or rage patterns; negative-feedback risk is low.
- ✓ One topicOne focused idea with a small hashtag set.
This checks what the post invites, not your reach: the weights multiply predictions X makes for each viewer.
Write my next postHow the simulator works
- It checks your post against the actions the ranker predicts: will people forward it, reply, quote it, follow you, or mute you and mark it not interested.
- It flags the things that cost reach for every post: bait, AI tells, links in the body and topic drift.
- It shows the weight X's code gives each action, so you can see why a line worth forwarding beats a like.
What the ranking code rewards
Each candidate post gets a score that adds up the predicted chance of each action times its weight. In the parameters synced on 16 October 2026, a copied link is weighted 20, a DM share 5, a reply 5, a quote 5, a follow 4 and a like under 1.
Negative actions weigh far more: not interested is minus 52, a mute minus 59 and a report minus 234. One annoyed reader cancels a lot of likes.
A reply from someone you both follow gets an extra 15. A thread gets one slot in the feed, so its first post has to stand alone.

Questions
Can this predict my reach?
No. The weights multiply predictions X makes per viewer, and nobody outside X sees those. This checks whether your post gives people a reason to take the high weight actions and avoids the penalties.
Are the weights current?
They come from home-mixer/params/param.rs in xai-org/x-algorithm, which states its last sync date. X can change them; the code says the values mirror production defaults.
Does X penalise links?
Not in the 2026 ranking code. But readers who leave do not reply or forward, and posting a link through the API costs extra, so a native summary with the link in a reply usually does better.
