Styled letters are look alike Unicode characters. Screen readers may read them letter by letter or skip them, and search may not match them. Style a few words, not the whole post.
How to bold text in a LinkedIn post
- Type or paste the words you want in bold. The bold version appears as you type.
- Press Copy, then paste into your LinkedIn post, comment or headline. It stays bold on desktop and in the app.
- Bold only the words that carry the point, such as a result or a question. A fully bold post is harder to read and invisible to many screen readers.
Why LinkedIn bold text is a copy and paste trick
LinkedIn posts are plain text. The bold you see in other people's posts is made of different characters: bold look alike letters from Unicode's Mathematical Alphanumeric Symbols block.
Sans bold matches LinkedIn's own font best, so it is the default here. Serif bold is there if you want the classic look.

Questions
How do I bold text in a LinkedIn post?
LinkedIn has no bold option in posts. Type your words in a bold text generator like this one, copy the result and paste it into the post.
Can I use bold in my LinkedIn headline?
Yes, it pastes into the headline, but LinkedIn search may not match styled words, so keep your job title and keywords plain.
Can screen readers read styled text?
Often not well. Many screen readers read each styled letter by its full name, or skip it. Keep styled text to a few words, never style a whole post, and never put key information only in styled text.
Does styled text show up in search?
Usually not as the plain word. Search on LinkedIn and X looks for the letters you typed, and a styled word is made of different characters, so a bold keyword can stop matching.
