LinkedIn post date extractor
LinkedIn shows 3d or 5mo, not the date. Paste a post link and see exactly when it was posted.
Runs in your browser. Nothing you type leaves this page. No signup.
Paste a link to a LinkedIn post to see when it was posted.
How it finds the date
- Copy the link to a LinkedIn post: use the three dots menu and Copy link to post, or copy the address bar.
- Paste it here. The tool finds the post ID, the long number after activity, share or ugcPost in the link.
- It reads the time from the ID and shows it in your time zone and in UTC.
Why a post ID holds its date
LinkedIn post IDs are 19 digit numbers built so that the first 41 bits are the moment the post was created, in milliseconds since 1 January 1970. Shifting the ID right by 22 bits leaves that time.
This is how the ID works, not a feature LinkedIn documents, so it can change. The date is when the post was created. An edited post keeps its original date, and a repost has its own ID and date.
Nothing is fetched. The tool never opens the link, so it works for any post you can copy a link to.
Questions
Why does LinkedIn not show the exact date?
The feed shows relative times like 2w. The exact date is not shown on the post, but it is inside the post ID.
Which links work?
Links with a post ID: linkedin.com/posts/... links ending in activity followed by a long number, and feed/update links with urn:li:activity, share or ugcPost. Profile and company page links have no post ID.
Is the time exact?
It is exact to the millisecond for when the post was created, shown in your time zone. It does not change if the post was edited later.
Does this open the post or log in?
No. The link never leaves your browser and is never opened. The date comes from the number alone.
